Stop the AI Madness

Maybe I’m venting – but what I hope to do is add some sanity to the conversation, and get you to focus on what should really matter to your business and your dealership.    So, with that said, please, stop the A-I madness!  

Before you label me anti-tech,   please hear me out.  I am not anti tech.  All I’m asking you to consider is focusing on your business before jumping on the A-I or tech bandwagon thinking that tech alone will solve all of your problems.   Technology is a great tool that can help make your business more efficient. 

What technology will never be able to do is fix a broken or outdated business.    How’s your product mix?  Do you have what consumers really want to buy?    How’s your pricing model?   Are consumers able and willing to pay what you’re asking?  Are there enough of those consumers in the market that will justify you being in business?  And finally – how’s your customer service?  Are you & your staff delivering excellence every time?   

If technology were the answer that everyone is looking for, far more companies would be wildly successful.    Lets a trip down memory lane.  Back when computers and point of sale systems were coming on board, retailers jumped on the bandwagon spending mountains of cash to implement this new technology.  Many failed in spite of early adoption.   Fast forward to today  –  I’m recording this video in March 2023.  And Tech giants are failing and shedding jobs in staggering numbers.  And these are the titans of tech  –  Google, FaceBook, Amazon, Apple. Twitter.    If it was as simple as getting the technology right – these tech giants would never see a rainy day.  But i think we all know there’s a lot more to creating and maintaining a successful business. 

Should you look to technology to help improve your business?  Of course – but only after you’ve laid out a foundation built on the core principles of success.
